ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a bicyclist.

The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. on State Route 307 west of Windsor-Mechanicsville Road in Austinburg Township.

A man on a red bicycle was traveling west, when he was side-swiped by a late 1990s white Dodge Dakota, causing the bicyclist to overturn.

The bicyclist suffered serious injuries and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the truck fled from the scene.

Troopers said the driver was a middle aged man with a mustache and he was smoking a cigarette.
