Lakewood police are investigating a double shooting that left a man and woman dead early Friday morning.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m., police said they were dispatched to the 1400 block of Olivewood Avenue, just south of Detroit Avenue for reports of shots fired.
Police said they received a called from a person saying their 23-year-old son had shot his 21-year-old girlfriend.
"My son and his girlfriend had an argument. I think he shot her," the caller said. "She's still breathing, please send somebody."
Officers were told the shooting suspect ran into a neighboring backyard.
Authorities found 23-year-old Amer Atef Ahmad dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said the girlfriend was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and later died. The Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 21-year-old Sarah J. Mahmood.
The caller told authorities to shoot his son if they saw him. "If he's outside, I want you to shoot that b**ch right there," he said.
