Two men were arrested in Mentor after authorities found a partial meth lab in their car on Friday, police said.
Michael Hines, Jr., 34, of Madison, and Eric McElroy, 19, of Ashtabula, were both charged with manufacturing drugs, illegal assembly of chemicals to manufacture drugs and possession of criminal tools.
According to police, authorities responded to a call in the 9000 block of Mentor Avenue at around 3:15 p.m. about a suspicious man purchasing - and possibly shoplifting - items used to manufacture methamphetamine.
Police located the suspect's vehicle at a gas pump of a nearby gas station. Upon searching the car, police found materials and "dangerous" chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine, authorities said.
This isn't the first time Hines and McElroy have had run-ins with police.
Police said at the time of the incident, the suspects were wanted for a recent crime in another local jurisdiction.
Police also said Hines has a "lengthy" criminal history with similar drug offenses. McElroy is out on bond through Lake County Common Pleas Court for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and corruption of a minor.
