BEREA, Ohio — Two men were arrested after they led authorities on a wild chase that lasted approximately 20 minutes Wednesday morning, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
According to Lieutenant Joe Hedinger, of the Berea Police Department, an officer realized the van was reported stolen from Cleveland.
At about 12:30 a.m., officers attempted to stop the van on Aaron Street, off Prospect in Berea, but the driver didn't stop.
Police chased the stolen van on I-71 to West 25th Street, where troopers used spike strips.
The chase continued on I-490 to East 55th Street before heading in the direction of Broadway Avenue. The chase eventually circled back to I-490 with the driver going the wrong way on I-490 to I-77.
Troopers boxed in the van as it as going the wrong way at the top of the I-77 south ramp to I-490.
Both men were taken to Strongsville Jail.
Editor's note: This story has been updated to remove the names of the individuals arrested. Berea police initially provided names, dates of birth and charges to News 5. Investigators now say they are not sure of the identities of the two men arrested. Detectives are currently working to positively identify the two men.
