Cleveland police are investigating a drive-by shooting that injured a 28-year-old woman Monday night.
Police responded to the 7200 block of Garden Valley Avenue around 10 p.m. for reports of a woman who was shot at East 71 Street and Roy Avenue.
The victim was shot in the chest and was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.
Officers spoke with the woman at the hospital who said she was driving westbound on Garden Valley Avenue when she saw a black SUV driving in the opposite direction with no lights on.
She told police the SUV began shooting at a group of people near the apartment complex. Trying to get out of the area, she sped up to leave when an unknown burgundy SUV drove up next to her, firing several shots into her car before fleeing the area.
The woman's condition is unknown at this time.
Police are investigating the shooting.
