EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — Three adults and one child were hospitalized Tuesday night after a fire broke out inside an East Cleveland apartment building.

The East Cleveland Fire Department responded at around 10:30 p.m. to the corner of Carlyon Road and Superior Avenue.

The three adults and one child evacuated from the burning home and were taken to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. A family member on scene said his mother and sister had burns, but wasn't sure the extent of the burns.

When firefighters from East Cleveland arrived to the scene, the fire was already billowing out of the roof.

Firefighters from Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights and University Heights worked to contain the blaze.

A neighboring home sustained heat and melting damage.

It's unknown at this time how many residents were displaced.
