4,420 Clevelanders petition to keep classic LeBron sign up during RNC

Posted

In one day, 4,420 people have rallied behind a petition asking for LeBron James' classic sign to stay up in Cleveland, after Sherwin Williams stated Monday that it plans to take it down for the Republican National Convention.

Sherwin Williams added that it would let the sign stay up on its headquarters building for the time being; so that fans could see it with a new word.

That word is "Champions," a title that has crowned King James head since Sunday's NBA championship victory. The new addition comes via a laser that projects onto the canvas.

But for the convention, a red, white and blue proclamation declaring — this land is our land — is slated for the spot where LeBron now stands, arms up, over the city.

The petition's author, Kathy Springer, stated on its change.org petition page, "This banner is the BEST message we can show to anyone visiting our town for the RNC."
