PARMA, Ohio — A 95-year-old woman was recognized for her care and compassion for her community at a ceremony held on Friday evening.
Myrtle Sheldon and her daughter have been making walker caddies for her fellow community members at Vista Springs Greenbriar Village in Parma.
The caddies allow community members to carry their belongings in the pouch that fits on their walkers. Sheldon makes the walker caddies in bright colors and sports themes.
Sheldon has donated more than 50 walker caddies to the Vista Springs community, as well as others in need of the caddies.
Vista Springs Greenbriar Village held a pasta dinner and ceremony where Sheldon was presented with “The Power of One” award which honors the helping of others.
Vista Springs Managing Partner Jennifer Malynn said Sheldon has made a positive impact on her community.
“They say it only takes one person to make a difference in this world. Myrtle Sheldon is that person. She has opened our eyes, showing us that it’s more than good care, it’s quality of life,” Malynn said. “Her loving care and positive attitude have made an impact on her community and the Vista Company.”
Staff, family members and community members attended the ceremony and helped honor Sheldon’s contributions to the community.
