Alabama fugitive arrested at relative's home in Garfield Heights for sex offender registration violations

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — A 50-year-old man wanted in Alabama for sex offender registration violations and abuse of a corpse charges was arrested at the home of a family member on Eastwood Avenue in Garfield Heights Wednesday night, according to a news release from the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Frederick Hampton, 50, was wanted in connection with actions taken after the death of 29-year-old Paighton Houston. She was found on Friday, Jan. 3 wrapped in sheets and buried in a shallow grave behind a home in Birmingham, Alabama that belong to relatives of Hampton.

On Wednesday night, police used forced entry into a home on Eastwood Avenue in Garfield Heights to arrest Hampton. He was taken into custody until he can be extradited back to Alabama.

Hampton is under investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service for possible federal violations, according to the news release.
