BEDFORD, Ohio — A bail bond agent shot a fugitive while serving a warrant Sunday, according to the Bedford Police Department.
Officers were called to 97 Solon Rd. for reports of shots fired at 9:36 a.m., police said.
When they arrived, officers found several bail bond agents attempting to subdue Charles Jones-Hill, 27.
The agents were serving a warrant on Hills when he jumped from a third story apartment window to avoid being captured, according to police.
A struggle ensued between Hills and another bail bond agent who was outside of the apartment. During the struggle, Hills attempted to disarm the agent causing a round to be fired from his weapon. A second agent then fired a round from his gun which struck the man in the lower back, according to an agent who witnessed the incident.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover, according to police.
Hills was wanted for two felony weapons violations and has a criminal history that includes kidnapping, robbery and burglary.
The incident is under investigation.
