A blood courier's car carrying approximately 25 pints of blood was stolen from the MetroHealth Medical Center parking lot at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The male driver of the vehicle went into the hospital to deliver something while he left a female friend sitting in the backseat.

While the driver was inside, an unknown male entered the vehicle and drove away with the female passenger inside the vehicle.

The unknown male drove to Willowick where he was convinced by the female passenger to stop and get out of the car.

The passenger drove the car back to meet police. She was not harmed and nothing was taken from the car.

Later on Wednesday morning, Willowick police found the man sleeping behind a house in the same area where he exited the car. He was wearing the same clothes he had on in the security footage from MetroHealth Medical Center.

The man was taken to the Cleveland Police Department Second District for questioning.
