Brooklyn Heights police are investigating after a driver led them on a pursuit before abandoning a vehicle on Sunday. The driver left the vehicle in drive, causing it to roll back and hit a police cruiser.
On Sunday at approximately 6:20 p.m., officers attempted to stop a white SUV traveling at a high-rate of speed on I-480 eastbound.
The driver stopped on the Transportation Boulevard exit ramp before exiting the vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot towards Vista Way.
Brooklyn Heights police said the driver did not put the vehicle in park, which caused it to roll back and hit a cruiser, causing minor damage.
Suspected drugs were found in the vehicle.
Multiple police departments searched the area for the driver. The driver has not been located but has been positively identified.
An arrest warrant will be obtained, according to police. No officers were injured.
