Cause of death released for Euclid High School football player injured in game Friday

A Euclid High School football player, who was injured in a game Friday, died from blunt impact to the abdomen, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office. 

Andre Jackson, a 17-year-old junior at Euclid High School died Sundayfrom a small bowel laceration. He was injured in Friday's football game against Solon High School.

Video from the Solon City School District showed Jackson was hit by an opponent's foot in the abdomen during the game.

Jackson died Sunday, one day after he was released from the hospital. His family told News 5 that he had no underlying health conditions and they called for help when they found him unresponsive.

Friday's homecoming game for Euclid High School will still be played as scheduled, according to school district officials. There will be a moment of silence and a balloon release prior to the start of the game.
