Cause of Parma Heights house explosion still under investigation

PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio — Parma Heights police are still working to determine the cause of an explosion at a house in the 6300 block of Mallo Place, according to an update from authorities.

On Saturday around 1:15 p.m., police received multiple 911 calls that a house had exploded in Parma Heights. Crews from the Parma and Parma Heights police departments as well as members of the Parma, Parma Heights, Brook Park, North Royalton, Brooklyn and Middleburg Heights fire departments all responded to the call, according to police.

Authorities found the body of an individual inside the home. Police said that they are unable to confirm the identity of the person found in the wreckage at this time.

Investigators are working to determine the origin and cause of the explosion and subsequent fire, which are both undetermined at this time.

No further information was released as the investigation is ongoing.
