Two chefs in the Cleveland area have been nominated for James Beard Awards in the Best Chefs in the Great Lakes region category.
Karen Small, the chef at Flying Fig in Ohio City, and Jill Vedaa, the chef at Salt in Lakewood, are two chefs "who have set new or consistent standards of excellence in their respective regions," according to the category description.
Small and Vedaa are semifinalist for 2018, along with 18 others in their category. The list will be narrowed down to five finalists, who will be announced march 14.
