The Cleveland bomb squad was called out to the Edgewater Beach House on Tuesday around 10:22 p.m.
News 5's overnight newstracker was at the scene as authorities searched the area for a reported suspicious package.
The Cleveland Police Department's bomb squad recovered a suspicious package and it was discovered to be an imitation device.
Officials left after two hours before going to a nearby apartment complex.
There are no details about why they were searching the complex.
The incident is under investigation.
