ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The Coast Guard is responding after receiving a report of a capsized kayak and two people in the water on Rocky River near the breakwall.
A rescue boat from Cleveland Harbor and a helicopter from the Coast Guard Station in Detroit have been deployed to assist in the water rescue, according to the Coast Guard.
Two people were rescued from the water, but their identities are unknown at this time, the Coast Guard said.
Because the temperature of the water is 39 degrees both individuals are being treated for hypothermia, according to the Coast Guard.
One of the individuals rescued was wearing a life jacket, the other was not, the Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard thanked a good Samaritan on the shore for helping with the rescue. That person reported the incident, stayed on scene and guided the Coast Guard to the kayakers.
Rocky River police also responded to the scene, the Coast Guard said.
