An East Cleveland man was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a train around 8 p.m., according to a Cleveland police spokesperson.

Kevin Standokes, 57, was walking northbound along the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks on East 26th Street in Cleveland, police said.

An investigation shows the gates were down and the lights were flashing at the time of the incident.

The train operator sounded the horn but the train still collided with Standokes, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
