A Fairview Park senior student is waking up in this hospital after she was hit by a car in the high school's parking lot Thursday.

Police said the crash happened around 3 p.m. at 4507 West 213th St.
According to police, the driver was parking his car in a spot near the high school gym when he drove over the parking stanchion, over the curb and hit the student.
The 17-year-old female student was taken by ambulance to Fairview Hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses at the scene said the girl was trapped under the vehicle but was conscious.
Fairview Park police said the driver stopped at the scene. No roads were shut down.
The driver, 60-year-old David Powlowski, of Fairview Park, is charged with aggravated vehicular assault, OVI and OVI with BAC. He was also parked in a handicap spot, police said.
Police said Powlowski hit the wrong pedal in the car and struck the student. He had a .177 BAC, according to police.
