WESTLAKE, Ohio — The Westlake Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire at an apartment complex.
The fire broke out in the 28000 block of Detroit Avenue just after 11 a.m., authorities said.
A firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital while responding to the fire.
Westlake fire crews said seven other departments assisted in putting out the fire, including Bay Village, Avon, Avon Lake, North Olmsted, North Ridgeville, Fairview Park and Rocky River.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
The American Red Cross said it is currently assisting residents living in at least 12 units.
