BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Funeral services have been announced for Arthur Gugick, 59, the beloved Beachwood high school math teacher who died in a car crash while he was in an Uber Saturday night.
Services will be held at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 South Taylor Road, in Cleveland Heights on Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, New York on Friday, April 5 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends Friday following the burial at Rita Kestenbaum residence, 2108 Legion Street in Belmore, New York.
Born in New York City, Gugick was the beloved son of Arlene Gugick and the late Fredric Gugick and a devoted father of Benjamin and Jason Gugick, his obituary states.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent in memory of Gugick to the Carol Kestenbaum Foundation here.

Ed Bernetich, the former principal at Beachwood Middle School and current professor at Cleveland State, said he had known Gugick for more than a decade. He said he first met Gugick 12 years ago when he hired him as a math teacher at Beachwood Middle School.
In addition to being a teacher and mathematician, Gugick was also well-known in the LEGO community. He was featured in a Washington Post story about the convention in 2010.
In a 2015 video posted by the Beyond the Brick YouTube channel , Gugick can be seen showing off his skills and LEGO masterpieces, including a wearable LEGO cape.
