A gas station security guard shot a suspect, who police said was seen firing shots at a car in Cleveland early Saturday morning.
According to Cleveland Police, officers responded to the gas station at 3934 West 117th St. for a man shot at around 2:40 a.m. Police found the suspect, 23-year-old De Shaun Larkin, with gunshot wounds lying on the ground in the parking lot.
Prior to the shooting, police said a security guard at the gas station, 25-year-old Lee Andre Banks, was notified by a patron that there was a group of people in the parking lot "acting crazy."
The security guard exited the station to investigate and allegedly saw Larkin holding a gun and firing shots at a moving car.
Police said the guard ordered the suspect to drop the weapon and get down on the ground, but Larkin turned toward the guard with the gun. Larkin then shot the suspect.
According to authorities, the gun that the suspect used was confirmed to be stolen out of Middleburg Heights.
Larkin was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is under arrest and being treated for gunshot wounds to his shoulder, leg and wrist, police said.
No other injuries were reported in the incident. The shooting is under investigation.
