Holiday travel rush is on in Cleveland

Travelers heading to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are advised to pack their patience.

The airport terminal is under construction, there will be more travelers than normal and security will be tighter. Airport officials are urging travelers to allow extra time.

The holiday travel rush at Christmas is different than at Thanksgiving, said Interim Airport Director Fred Szabo. "Christmas is more spread out. People generally take a longer time at Christmas," said Szabo.

It is expected the Tuesday and Wednesday before Christmas will be busier than usual and the early part of next week, Szabo added.

There will be extra staff on hand to help travelers navigate around the construction.

Passengers will also see signs of increased security.
