A portion of Interstate 490 westbound from Broadway Avenue to East 55th Street was shut down after a pedestrian has been struck by a motorist, according to Cleveland Fire officials.

The highway has since been reopened.

A man was changing a tire when he was struck by a passing vehicle, according to police. The man and another woman were transported to MetroHealth Medical Center. They were both outside of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The two injured were taken to the hospital in stable condition, police say. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

This is the second case of someone being struck by a driver in October. A woman was fatally hit while changing a flat tire on Oct. 1.
