CLEVELAND — Jury trials at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court have been suspended due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Judges voted to suspend jury trials until Jan. 19, a decision that was made Monday based on the continued reports of high COVID-19 positivity rates in the county.

The judges previously voted to postpone trials until Dec. 1.

The court will remain open, with hearings being held by phone or by video whenever possible. Bench trials may still be scheduled and the grand juries will continue to meet, according to Darren Toms, public information officer for the court.

The court will continue to monitor cases on a weekly basis.
