PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio — Two juveniles were arrested Friday after leading police on a chase in a stolen car where they hit more than 100 mph before crashing into a field.

The chase started when an officer stopped a stolen vehicle near Pearl Road and Greenleaf Avenue. According to police, the car had been reported stolen out of Cleveland.

The car stopped momentarily, but then accelerated away from officers, authorities said. The car’s driver turned down a side street and switched off the car’s headlights to try and hide from officers.

Police located the vehicle again when the driver turned onto Pearl Road and headed south, fleeing at more than 100 mph in light traffic, according to authorities.

When the car reached the intersection of Boston and Pearl roads, the driver turned westbound and headed towards Boone Road, where the driver lost control of the vehicle as it turned onto Boone Road.

Police found the car abandoned in a field, authorities said.
