CLEVELAND — University Settlement, a social services nonprofit in Cleveland’s Broadway-Slavic Village neighborhood, is hosting a special event where families can get a free eye exam and a pair of new glasses.

Tuesday was the first day for the event and more than 40 families are expected to stop by Bohemian National Hall, 4939 Broadway Avenue, in Slavic Village where the free eye exams are taking place.

“The response has been good. For a lot of families, it’s been hard to believe that they can get a free vision screening and free glasses. It seems almost too good to be true, but we have a partnership with the ChildSight Program and they've made it possible,” said Frederick Knuckles, of University Settlement.

Organizers say if you currently wear glasses, bring them with you to the event. If you wear contacts, don’t wear them to the screening.

The next free eye exam clinic will be held on June 18.

Those interested in attending should contact Knuckles to register at 216-641-8948 ext. 228 or email him at fknuckles@universitysettlement.net.
