A man died at a local hospital after getting sick at the Cleveland City Jail.
Darnell Evans, 55, was arrested at 12 a.m. Tuesday for outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was immediately booked into jail, according to a City of Cleveland news release.
A medical screening found Evans had a lengthy medical history.
At 9:48 a.m., almost 10 hours after he was arrested, Evans was given his prescribed medicine by the jail nurse. He complained of feeling ill just before 5 p.m.
Evans was taken to Saint Vincent Charity Hospital where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. He died at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
