WOODMERE VILLAGE, Ohio — The owner of Beechmont Towers apartments says people living in six more apartments will be asked to move out after winds tore the roof of a section of the complex Sunday.

As many as 22 of the apartment's 137 units may have been damaged after high winds tore the roof of a section of the building that burned in a fire last month. The building's owner believes that fire weakened the structure, causing the roof to blow away.

The debris crashed off the four story building and onto 15 cars parked below.

"Horrible, I'm just trying to collect things out of there," said Ariel Marcelino. His Toyota Camry was crushed by roofing materials.

"[It's a] great loss because that's my working car," Marcelino said. "What am I going to do now?"

Marcelino said he's waiting on an insurance adjuster to assess the damage.

Meanwhile, workers spent the day cutting through the fallen roof to access another car and SUV buried in the debris.

Late Monday, workers and engineers were still assessing damage to the building, which was constructed in the 1960s.

The owner says the company is working with affected residents in an effort to move them into other apartment buildings.
