Shanee Robinson and Ricard Sims have been indicted for the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Braylon Robinson.
According to the indictment, Shanee Robinson, 24, and Sims, 27, were each indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter, three counts of endangering children, one count of reckless homicide, and one count of receiving stolen property.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office said Shanee Robinson was Braylon's mother and Sims was Shanee's boyfriend.
Shonda Robinson, Braylon's aunt, said Braylon was playing on the floor with two other children, ages 1 and 3, who were described as the children of a family friend. Investigators said they believe Braylon was shot by a 3-year-old boy.
Shonda Robinson said her sister heard the gun go off, but was on the couch facing the other direction when the 3-year-old apparently found the weapon. A handgun was found near the 3-year-old. Neither of the other children sustained injuries. She said the family was unaware that any weapons were in the home and suspect it may have belonged to the child's father.
Shanee Robinson and Sims are scheduled to be arraigned on March 24 at 8:30 a.m. at the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.
