Over 1,000 FirstEnergy customers on Cleveland’s east side were without power after a contractor struck power lines while digging on a construction project.
FirstEnergy confirmed the contractor has no affiliation or ties to FirstEnergy, and was digging on a construction project in the city of Beachwood.
FirstEnergy crews were on scene, working to restore power, a representative with the company said. At first, about 3,000 customers across Cuyahoga County were without power, but FirstEnergy has since restored power to all but a handful of customers in the area.
