PARMA, Ohio — Parma City School District has decided to resume extracurricular activities for students after previously suspending them, allowing students to practice for a fall sports season that may or may not occur.

Extracurricular activities will resume throughout the district beginning Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The activities will be limited to gathered groups of 10, including the coaches or sponsors of the activity, the district said.

Parma City School District said that it isn’t confident that a fall sports season will be possible, especially for contact sports, but will resume activities to ensure student athletes do not lack the conditioning of their peers if competition is able to resume.

The district believes that moving some or all of its fall sports to the spring would be a “viable option” and is working with other school districts to petition the Ohio High School Athletic Association to allow that to happen.
