An 8-year-old boy appears to have been shot in the shoulder while playing with a gun he and another boy found Saturday afternoon, Cleveland police stated.

EMS transported the boy to Fairview Hospital, where he is reported in stable condition.

An investigation showed the injured child and a 10-year old boy were in a room together in a home in the 3500 block of West 120th Street when the gun went off at around 2:45 p.m.

One adult may be cited for failure to secure a weapon.

The victim's uncle told newsnet5.com he believes the gun did not come from the home and the boys may have picked it up in a nearby park.

The incident remains under investigation.
