SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — This weekend South Euclid police got a call for a man speeding and driving erratically. When officers tracked down the vehicle what they found wasn’t exactly what was expected.

The incident happened Sunday at the intersection of South Green and Mayfield roads.

Police said the driver, whose name has not been released, and his fiancee were asleep at a traffic light with their two children, a 6-year-old girl and a 17-month-old boy, in the backseat.

The driver, who is a CCW holder, also had a loaded gun sitting next to him within reach of his children, authorities said.

The driver was arrested and charged with OVI, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, child endangering and driver inattention, according to South Euclid police.

Authorities did not say if the driver’s fiancee has been charged with any crimes.
