Police investigating after 10-year-old boy shot in Maple Heights

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio — Maple Heights police are investigating the shooting of a 10-year-old boy.

Police said they received a call around 5:30 p.m. from South Pointe Hospital

A staff member said a woman came into the emergency room with her 10-year-old son, who had just been shot.

The 10-year-old suffered a gun shot wound to his abdomen.

The mother told police she was outside of her home on Libby Road playing with her son when she heard three "pops" and then saw that her son was bleeding.

The boy was transported to University Rainbow and Babies Hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
