A police officer came to the rescue of a small cat trapped on a roof in South Euclid.

Police said a resident who lives on Bayard Road called the department and requested the animal warden, concerned the small animal might freeze to death in the frigid weather.

With no animal warden on duty, an officer took the initiative and was able to rescue the feline after borrowing a neighbor's ladder.

The cat was reunited with the owner.
