A wrong-way head-on crash injured two people early Friday morning on Interstate 90 in Bratenahl.
The crash happened in the eastbound lanes on I-90 just before the exit to Lakeshore Boulevard.
Cleveland EMS said that both drivers were transported from the scene in critical condition.
Cleveland firefighters spent about 30 minutes cutting one of the drivers out of his destroyed car.
Friday's crash was the third wrong-way crash in the Cleveland area in recent months.
On Oct. 26, a 75-year-old man was killed when he drove his car the wrong way on I-90 eastbound. A few days later, another driver was killed in a four-car crash on I-77 northbound.
Friday's crash is still under investigation but News 5 learned in at least 75% of the wrong-way crashes here in Ohio, the driver is severely impaired.
ODOT has added signs and marks in the road targeted at preventing impaired drivers from making the same fatal mistake.
Bratenahl police did not make the crash report available and weren't available for comment
