Dramatic new video showed a smash and grab style burglary in progress at a Parma 7-Eleven store, all while police in Cleveland investigated a similar incident that happened just a day later.
Surveillance video from four different angles at the 7-Eleven on State Road at Brookpark Road showed burglars ramming what appeared to be a white Ford work van into the glass storefront, before making off with the store’s ATM in just seconds.
It happened around 4 a.m. on Wednesday. In a 911 call, a witness claimed to be following the suspected burglars on Interstate 480 before they got away.
Then, on Thursday morning, burglars smashed another minivan into the front of the Rite Aid store at Fulton and Clark Avenues in Cleveland, again stealing the ATM.
A witness told newsnet5.com he saw two men in grey coats make off in a tan or gold colored Dodge Caravan. According to a police report, the store manager said the incident was captured on surveillance video.
None of the burglars in either incident have been captured.
These are the latest in a string of similar burglaries involving stolen minivans and ATM thefts across the Cleveland area. Police have not said whether they believe the crimes are related.
