PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio — Officers initially thought a driver in Parma Heights was drunk, but after he crashed head-on into a car and his car rolled over while they were chasing him, they learned he had a medical issue.
After the initial drunk driver call came in, Parma Heights police officers began pursuing the driver on Stumph Road at about 10:04 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from police.
Dash camera video from one police cruiser shows the car swerving between lanes before clipping a vehicle and striking another head-on, causing the car to flip over.
After the crash, officers learned the man’s erratic driving was due to a medical issue. Police could not provide further details due to medical privacy laws.
Police said the driver has not been charged.
