MARGARETTA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash Monday that killed an 18-year-old from Sandusky.
Troopers said the crash happened on Monday at around 1:19 a.m. on State Route 101 at the intersection of State Route 2 in Margaretta Township in Erie County.
A 19-year-old Sandusky woman, operating a Hyundai Elantra, was heading southbound on State Route 101 when she failed to stop at a red light and struck a Dodge Ram driven by a 62-year-old man who was attempting to make a left turn onto State Route 101.
The passenger of the Elantra, identified as Storm Lanier, 18, of Sandusky, died from her injuries in the crash.
The 19-year-old sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center. The 62-year-old driver was taken to Firelands Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
State troopers said alcohol and/or drugs are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
