Two people died in a crash on U.S. Route 6 in Erie County early Tuesday morning.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that 26-year-old James D. Metz of Fremont was traveling westbound near Maple Avenue in Margaretta Township and went left of center, striking a box truck driven by 50-year-old Christopher J. Harrison of Bettsville.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither were wearing seatbelts. Troopers suspect that both alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
