SANDUSKY, Ohio — A man was arrested near Cedar Point on Saturday after allegedly driving a car that was missing two of its tires while he was intoxicated, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were responding to a separate incident near the intersection of Cedar Point Road and U.S. Route 6 when a 2015 Toyota that was missing two passenger tires drove past them.
After pulling the car over, deputies spoke to the driver of the vehicle. The 27-year-old man said he was on his way home from Norwalk and thought he could make it there without two of his tires, deputies said.
Deputies said that the man didn’t realize that he could not drive the car on its rims.
The man's eyes appeared glassy and he smelled like alcohol, according to authorities.
Deputies administered three field sobriety tests and a Breathalyzer test, which the man failed, authorities said.
The man was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and driving an unsafe vehicle.
