Alcohol may have been a factor in a crash that killed one person near Cedar Point on Sunday.
The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Gustava Walls, 37, of Lakewood, was speeding in a 2007 Honda Accord on Cedar Point Causeway when he failed to make a curve and went off the road.
When Walls' car returned to the road it went left of center and hit 31-year-old Justin A. Shauger's 2000 GMC Sierra pick-up truck. Shauger, of Michigan, and his 8-year-old passenger were not injured.
Walls' car then spun and hit another vehicle that belonged to 24-year-old Heather N. Moore, of Solon. Walls' truck rolled over several times and stopped in the grass.
Ohio State Highway Patrol said Moore's left elbow was fractured and her passenger, 24-year-old Anne M. Chirdon, of Mentor, received pelvis and ankle injuries from the impact. Moore and Chirdon were taken to Firelands Hospital by Sandusky EMS.
Walls was given CPR at the scene but died of his injuries after being taken to Firelands Hospital by EMS.
Alcohol may have caused the crash, officials said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol noted the REV3 Triathlon was in progress on the Cedar Point Causeway at the time of the crash. No injuries for participants or volunteers were reported.
