The Ohio State Highway Patrol is looking for a driver of a commercial truck who hit a patrol cruiser and left the scene on the Ohio Turnpike Thursday morning.

At around 2:02 a.m., OSHP said a cruiser was stopped on the side of the road with its overhead lights activated when a white Volvo commercial vehicle hauling a white box trailer sideswiped the cruiser.

The trooper was helping change a tire for a motorist who was pulled over on the side of the westbound lanes of the turnpike mile marker 122 in Erie County.

The trooper was inside the cruiser wearing a safety belt and was not injured.

The cruiser sustained damage to the front and it also damaged the wheel and tire, which prevented the trooper from pursuing the vehicle.

Anyone with information locating or identifying the commercial vehicle can contact the Ohio State Highway Patrol Milan Post at 419 499-4808 or #677.
