HURON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in Huron Township Monday morning.
Around 6:36 a.m., a 2002 Dodge van was driving south on Berlin Road just south of Darrow Road. At the same time, a 2012 Honda SUV was driving north on Berlin road. The driver of the Dodge van failed to maintain control around a curve, driving left of center and striking the Honda SUV head-on, according to troopers.
The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 63-year-old Timothy Truman, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.
After hitting the Dodge head-on, the Honda went off the side of the road and struck a rock. The 37-year-old driver of the Honda was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to troopers.
Troopers don’t believe alcohol or drugs are factors in this incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
