An 18-year-old woman seriously injured in a January crash in Chester Township has died, authorities said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Chardon post said Caitlin Skiles, of Willoughby, was taken off life support Thursday night and succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash.
At approximately 8:20 p.m. on Jan. 30, Skiles, who was driving a Toyota Camry, was traveling south on Sperry Road when she failed to negotiate a right hand turn onto Ranch Drive.
The car traveled off the road and struck a sign and utility pole, the OSHP said. Skiles was taken to University Hospitals for treatment.
Authorities said the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. At the time of the incident, it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
The incident is under investigation.
