7-year-old boy struck by van in Norwalk hit-skip

Posted

A 7-year-old lost control of his skateboard and was struck by a van in a hit-skip, Norwalk police stated Saturday.

The boy was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center for the treatment of superficial wounds.

He was kneeling on his skateboard when he lost control and rolled into the street at 14 Adams Street.

When the silver van struck, the boy was reportedly dragged under the vehicle briefly. Its driver got out and asked the child if he was okay after the 7-year-old had gotten out from underneath the van, officers said.

Before police arrived, the driver fled the scene, according to law enforcement officials.

The 7-year-old and one of his friends identified the van as silver with black stripes.

Norwalk police ask anyone who has information about the driver or who recognizes the vehicle description to call the department at (419) 663-6780.
