MENTOR, Ohio — Those in Lake County with a sweet tooth will have to satisfy their craving somewhere else, after the candy megastore, All City Candy, announced it will be closing its Mentor location at the end of this year, according to a news release from the company.
The company's Richmond Heights location, 746 Richmond Road, will remain open, as will the company’s e-commerce store, AllCityCandy.com.
“We love our Mentor customers and the Mentor community and thank them immensely for their support,” says Elisabeth Sapell, All City Candy founder and president in a news release. “Unfortunately, this location has not performed as well as we had anticipated, so we’ve made the difficult decision to pivot our business strategy and refocus our resources on our better performing outlets."
All staff employed at the Mentor location have been offered postions at the Richmod Heights location.
“Our Richmond Heights location remains strong, and our online business continues to grow,” says Sapell. “In the best interest of the company and our staff, we have decided to concentrate our efforts on continuing to grow those operations that are performing well.”
The Richmond Heights location, a 15-20 minute drive from the Mentor location, will undergo a redesign in January. The renovation will include adding an open kitchen.
All merchandise in the Mentor location will be sold at a discount of 25% while supplies last, and all store fixtures will also be available for sale. Any questions regarding bulk purchasing can be directed to Elisabeth Sapell at 216-487-7070.
