MENTOR, Ohio — An anonymous donor is giving hope to animals in shelters waiting for a loving home this holiday season. The Lake Humane Society said an anonymous donor is matching every gift made before Nov. 30 to the shelter, up to $75,000.
All donations made to the Holiday Fund Drive fundraising page will have twice the impact this holiday season.
The COVID-19 crisis has created financial challenges for pet owners. The Lake Humane Society said it has been flooded with reports of animal cruelty and neglect. More individuals are seeking help to care for their animals.
Nelly, who is the face of the Holiday Fund Drive, was abandoned during the pandemic and arrived at the shelter when it was exceeding capacity.
Thanks to community efforts, Nelly found a loving home and a second chance at life with one of the Lake Humane Society’s volunteers.
