The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search Sunday at the Mentor Lagoons Natural Preserve and Marina for a missing man. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is continuing the search.

According to the Coast Guard, a call came in around 5:10 p.m. on Saturday when 46-year-old Robert Allan jumped off a boat and never re-surfaced.

The Coast Guard was on the scene through the evening using helicopters and sonar equipment to locate the man.

The Coast Guard, the Mentor Police Department and the Mentor Fire Department all searched for Allan Saturday evening. The search was called off when it got dark Saturday night and picked back up Sunday morning. The Coast Guard said it brought in a helicopter and a boat on Sunday to help with the search.

The Coast Guard ended its search around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday after searching a total of 48 square miles.

ODNR said it has two boats in the water with side-scanning sonar equipment as it continues to look for Allan. ODNR did not say when it will stop looking for the day.
